As for whether or not World of Horror is actually scary, I’m not sure if I can answer that. I guess it depends on how effective you consider body and existential horror. The game largely leans on the sort of topics that Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft favored, so you can expect cults, voyeurs, and incomprehensible horror. As an adventure title, there are no real jump scares, but sometimes, during screen transitions, you can see strange symbols left on your screen, which is a really nice touch.
I was introduced to the work of Junji Ito quite some time ago with “The Enigma of Amigara Fault.” That particular story haunted me for a while before I finally dove into his work proper, and I’m still waiting to see if there’s a bottom to it. He often tells stories that start with grounded simplicity before quickly dropping them into a vat of inexplicable and undefined horror. He does a great job of starting off with a world that is uncomfortably off before pushing it to incomprehensible extremes. It’s not an uncommon approach to horror, but it’s one that his personal flourish aids so well.

The Just Cause franchise thrives on its physics-based open-world sandbox gameplay. While each entry encourages players to blow up enemy outposts in creative ways, Just Cause 4 makes the most out of more modern technology to really up the ante (even if some of the game’s structured missions don’t quite live up to the standards set by its free-roaming activities). Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just pips its predecessor to being the better open world game. It’s bigger, for one thing, but also has a lot more fun with letting you be creative within its vaster Hyrule. This is a glorious open world that’s partly a playground for your own imaginative inventions and part rich canvas of quests, secrets, and lore to discover. It’s a complete evolution of Breath of the Wild in that way, taking everything that people loved and made of that first game to the next level. It’s glorious.

Hardest game in the world unlocked
We’re grouping the Souls family into one entry to stop the whole list from becoming dominated by FromSoftware’s titles. Most of the Souls games follow a similar but punishing, formula. Elden Ring is actually one of the easier options despite having some of the hardest late-game bosses such as Malenia or Promised Consort Radahn.
Level 24 is similar to level 21 when it comes to having multiple different dots moving in different directions at different speeds. However this level does not have any yellow dots that you have to collect. If you want to beat this level you will need to utilize the safe spots that are located on the map. One of the most difficult parts about this level is getting from the starting point in the bottom left to the finish in the top right.
That being said, it’s the first Dark Souls game that deserves accolades when it comes to difficulty. The title took the Demon’s Souls formula and made it even harder, and bleaker, and filled its dark world with so many masochistic delights it would make a Cenebite blush. Elden Ring may have taken the series into the light, but it was Dark Souls that enveloped players in FromSoft’s addictive shroud.
