This realistic military simulator is a game that much of its player base takes extremely seriously. The island of Altis needs to provide a variety of interesting tactical scenarios for squads to participate in, so it’s no surprise that it resulted in such a massive map. Basic rules of submission There are built-up towns, marshlands, jungle, and just about everything in between for all your mil-sim needs.
Many are eager to bury recent Bethesda games in order to elevate Kingdom Come’s virtues, and I can honestly understand the enthusiasm to do so. Though not nearly as refined or well-produced as the best Elder Scrolls games, it does feature a more “hardcore” historically driven version of that fundamental role-playing experience that emphasizes immersion even at the cost of a higher learning curve. MMOs sort of cheat when it comes to having massive maps, as a game like World of Warcraft has had two decade’s worth of expansions to make it into the behemoth it is today. Still, it means that anyone jumping in for the first time today has an incredible series of adventures ahead of them, with more on the way in the future.
Yes, you read that correctly. Minecraft is approximately 1.5 billion square miles, which would explain why the game never comes to a close. With roughly 1500 square miles assigned to each player, you have more than enough room to construct your city within the greater, blocky domain.
Auroa in Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a map designed quite similar to Arma 3, only much bigger and full of all the usual Ubisoft trimmings to keep you occupied. It’s the kind of map that you’ll never truly know all of, forcing you to study the terrain for each mission to formulate successful plans.

All of the in-game artwork was designed using MS Paint, with additional writing provided by author Cassandra Khaw. The game’s music was composed by ArcOfDream and Qwesta. Interest in a console release has been expressed since 2020, and a release date was revealed during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase in November 2022.
There are magical or defensive options for actions as well: you can find a makeshift weapon if you’re unarmed but it takes a whole turn; you can attempt a ritual with a series of bows and claps that you divine by trial and error; there’s a once-a-game struggle if you’re really low on Stamina or Reason. But ultimately, and even if you have some interesting spells or items in your arsenal, it doesn’t feel like you can approach combat encounters with the same level of complexity or interest as the rest of World Of Horror.

Being as much of an insufferable, online-but-ultimately-in-quite-a-basic-way person as I am, I’m a Junji Ito girlie. The horror manga artist has an immediately recognisable style that intersects detailed, line heavy art with strange and upsetting concepts, and some of his short stories have acquired a sort of semi-memetic status («This is my hole! It was made for me!»). If you’re at all familiar with Junji Ito’s work you will look at unforgiving almost-text-adventure World Of Horror and go «Huh, that’s inspired by Junji Ito.»
For everyone else, it’s put to good use. Generally speaking, your character is on a constant decline. Each mystery is going to take more and more from them, and it’s inevitable that they’ll die from it. The game then becomes something of a race against time to solve Shiokawa’s problems before death arrives to take them. You’re tangibly clinging to hope as things get worse and worse around you, and your protagonist gradually falls apart.
