“I wanna take you for a ride,” Marvel vs. Capcom 2’s character select screen screamed at us while we decided whether we preferred Felicia’s claws to Wolverine’s. We take it for granted now, but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 cemented the Capcom vs series playstyle, with characters from different franchises swapping out and using assist attacks. It looks chaotic, but it works wonderfully, and has since inspired titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ. Please Capcom, remaster this with rollback netcode for the new generation.

Adventure games are not entirely uncommon, but they tend to be very low budget in anticipation of modest sales. The genre was somewhat rejuvenated with the release of The Longest Journey in 1999, which emphasized stronger story elements and more interaction with different characters. A recent resurgence of adventure games on Nintendo consoles might signify a new interest in the genre. A successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012, run by Doublefine Studios, also spoke to the continued interest in Adventure games. The game produced as a result was mired in controversy and production delays, and to some, signalled the true end of the genre outside of niche markets.

Why we love it: In my opinion, a good party game is one where, by the end, players have lost all track of the score and are just invested in continuing to play. Wavelength has that effect in spades. The box is colorful and attention-grabbing, the big dial is chunky and satisfyingly tactile, and the structure of the game leads to interesting—or at least extremely funny—conversations about how your friends view the world. The best communication games (Codenames and Dixit, our picks for beginners, among them) play with how we convey ideas and concepts to others. Wavelength works similarly, but where Dixit and Codenames focus on communicating ideas by association, Wavelength asks players to communicate via opinions. These are among the hundreds of potential discussions (and arguments) that Wavelength can spark.
Rummikub (pronounced “rummy-cube”) is definitely one of the most fun board games for families. Players take turns placing numbered tiles in sequential runs and groups of the same. Jokers add spice and interest, and the first player to use all their tiles wins. The game is simple enough for kids to get but engaging enough for adults. If you don’t already have Rummikub in your game chest, it’s worth adding.
The game was a 2010 inductee into the National Toy Hall of Fame, has a permanent home in the Smithsonian, came to life in an Acura commercial, been spoofed on «Saturday Night Live,» and parodied by its own current owner, Hasbro, with the «Quarter Life Crisis» edition.

Another great way to practice spelling their names is by using a sensory bin. Place alphabet beads in rice or dried beans and allow students to search for the letters. You can also alter this and create a family sensory bin where you add in family pictures and names (mom, dad, baby, etc) and have them match the words with the photo!
Today we read “the skin you live in” and talked about how each of us is unique. Students drew themselves and named their skin!
